Britannia: Icon on the Coin

Royal Mint Museum Britannia cover

For this 144 page book by Art historian Katherine Eustace we conducted extensive picture research to gather some rare images depicting the development of Britannia from Roman times to the present day.

An appendix shows the development of Britannia’s image on coins from the Museum’s collection.

It is elegant and satisfying, the pages and their images are beautifully paced, and that sense of evolving design emerges as one goes through it.

When Britain went Decimal

Published to mark the fiftieth anniversary of decimalisation this 320 page hardback book was joint publication with Spink. Mark Stocker tells the story of how Britain adopted a decimal currency, detailing the planning and design stages in the lead up to February 1971.

We also designed a stripped back, Covid 19 safe exhibition on this theme at the Royal Mint Experience.
